History Club to focus on the 1960s

Published 4:54 pm Monday, June 8, 2015

The Rowan History Club will meet Tuesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. The program will be hosted by the museum: The Annual Show & Share. This year however, the session will take on a different flair — all attendees may share memories of the 1960s. There will be special guests to add to the discussions.

This history club meeting will open the doors for thinking about our upcoming Vietnam War exhibit and our future exhibit on integration, “Mama, Why Does the Water have a Color?” We want members to share their remembrances of the 60s and the impact the time had on our society. If you have 60s artifacts, you are welcome to bring them. The meeting will include visual and musical remembrances of the 1960s. Come and enjoy yourselves.

The meeting will be held in the Messinger Room (accessible by elevator). Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, September-June. The museum is at 202 N. Main St. Guests to the program should enter through the rear entrance.

A roundtable format will allow for a 30 to 45 minute presentation, followed by a question and answer period. The Rowan History Club is open to all persons interested in the history of Rowan County. There are no dues or admission fees, and refreshments are served.
