Local author Jan McCanless will sign copies of her new Beryl’s Cove mystery, “Who Killed the Weatherman” on Saturday, June 13, noon- 2 p.m.

This is McCanless’ 10th book and eighth novel in the Beryl’s Cove mystery series.

This time around, her beach bunch gets involved with a car wreck that turns out not to be an accident. As they set about to solve what appears to be a crime, they run into problems of their own.

Marital mishaps, surprising sequences, goofy gaffs, and all manner of mayhem await the decidedly quirky group from coastal Carolina.

“My mysteries always contain some humor, and this romp is no exception. Another ‘happy murder’ for your  reading pleasure,” she writes in a press release.

“Who Killed the Weatherman” is also available online and through the publisher, Second Wind Publishing.

Antwon Blakeney will be at the bookstore on Saturday, June 13 as well., from 3-5 p.m., with his book, “Is Love Necessary.”

Blakeney writes, “We cannot control the cards that were dealt in life. We can only play the hand that is given. Life has problems no matter if you’re rich or poor. What matters are the choices you decide to make in your life.

“Doing the right thing is not always the easiest thing but almost always the best thing. I want to share with you the struggles of my life and how I overcame my obstacles. Through my journey you will learn how my relationship with God continued to grow as I became a man.

The 154 page paperback is published by Outskirts Press.

Blakeney is a freelance writer from Salisbury who lives in Greensboro. He’s a member of the Poetry Society of America and is inspired by various bodies of work.

He is a railroad maintenance engineer who has been inspired by the interesting people he has met through his traveling as a railroad employee.
