Area Sports Briefs: All-CCC teams announced

Salisbury senior Riley Myers was named Central Carolina Conference Pitcher of the Year.
Myers, J.T. Austin, Ryan Jones, Will Steinman and Alex Yang represented the Hornets on the All-CCC team.
North Rowan’s Jake Pritchard, Rob Monroe and Noah Gonzalez made All-CCC.
West Davidson’s Justin Freeman was named CCC Player of the Year.
East Davidson’s Ryan McIntire was runner-up in the voting for player of the year and pitcher of the year.
Jerry Walser was named CCC Coach of the Year. He guided West Davidson to the league championship. East Davidson’s Dan Patton was runner-up.

College golf
Catawba women’s golfer Madison Kennedy (Salisbury) was named to the Capital One Academic At-Large Team for District 3. The district includes student-athletes in the South Atlantic, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas.
Kennedy, a senior, has a 3.88 GPA while majoring in business administration.
Kennedy opened the season with a career-low round of 69 that equaled the Catawba school record.
All-CCC golf
Salisbury’s Dale Snyder was named CCC Coach of the Year for boys golf.
Salisbury’s Abraham Post, Christopher Queen, Simon Post, Gabe Steinman and Alex Antosek made the All-CCC team.
East Davidson’s Scott Swaim was the CCC Player of the Year. Runners-up were West Davidson’s Zach Michael and Nicolas Lamberth.
All-CCC tennis
Salisbury’s Spencer Storey was the CCC Player of the Year for boys tennis.
Joining Storey on the All-CCC team from Salisbury were Hunter Carlton, David Derrick, Mathias Decomarmond and Matt Sukkasem.
North Rowan’s Dylan Auten and Chase Thompson were named All-CCC.
West Davidson’s Brett Moore was runner-up for player of the year honors.
Lexington’s Varner Sink was voted CCC Coach of the Year, with Salisbury’s Milton Griffith runner-up.
All-CCC softball
Salisbury’s Carolina Forbis, Michaela Lemmon, Kate Murph, Tamika Gatewood and Katy Wolfe made the All-CCC team for softball.
Forbis was runner-up for CCC Pitcher of the Year honors.
North Rowan’s Ashlyn Mills and Katie Shoaf made the All-CCC team.
East Davidson’s Bayley Plummer was the CCC Player of the Year, with West Davidson’s Lily Kernodle runner-up.
East Davidson’s Brooke Walser was the CCC Pitcher of the Year.
East Davidson’s Amanda Akins was named CCC Coach of the Year.
All-CCC girls track
North Rowan’s Brianna White shared CCC Player of the Year honors with West Davidson’s Patience Hunt.
North Rowan’s Payton Russell, Rochelle Bowman, Janiah Hall, Nicole Phillips and Chevy Blaire joined White on the All-CCC team.
Salisbury’s All-CCC performers were Jaleesa Smoot and Breya Philpot.
East Davidson’s Bob Schilly was the CCC Coach of the Year. North Rowan’s Phillip Bush was runner-up for coaching honors.
All-CCC girls soccer
Salisbury’s Julia Honeycutt was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the CCC, sharing the award with West Davidson’s Karmen Idol.
Salisbury’s Ceci Cardelle was runner-up for CCC Offensive Player of the Year. West Davidson’s Taryn Craig was the top vote-getter.
Joining Cardelle and Honeycutt on the All-CCC team from Salisbury were Juliana Anderson, Katie Bullock, Nellie Brown and Kathryn Rusher.
North Rowan’s Demeria Robinson made the All-CCC team.
Salisbury’s Matt Parrish was runner-up for CCC Coach of the Year to West Davidson’s Chris Brown.
All-CCC boys track
North Rowan’s Phillip Bush was named CCC Coach of the Year for boys track.
North Rowan’s Michael Streater was runner-up for CCC Player of the year honors to Thomasville’s Chantez Whitaker.
Joining Streater on the All-CCC team from North Rowan were Phennessy Burts, Dennis Davis, Eric Gibson, A’Jon Jones, Shareer Walker, Felix Quiroz and Shane Parker.
Salisbury athletes on the All-CCC team are Lamyron Greene, D.J. Alexander, Jibri Cowan, Devonta Brown, Willie Clark, Dante Gaston, Erik Murray, Omarii Sanders, Thurston Alexander, Matt Washko, Max Patel and Matt Portscheller.
Minor leagues
The Asheville Tourists romped 13-2 against Kannapolis on Wednesday afternoon at McCormick Field.
The Intimidators (16-22) were held to just four hits, tying their season low, while being swept for the first time all season.
The Intimidators were shut out until Ethan Gross and Toby Thomas had run-scoring doubles in the ninth. The Intimidators return to Kannapolis on Thursday to play eight games in seven days. Kannapolis hosts Hickory in a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 5:05 p.m.
