Tournament Interest

As our local membership has grown so has the interest in tournament play. This week-end we had several members playing at the Greensboro tournament. Beginning on May 29 and running through May 31 there is a NLM tournament in Charlotte at the bridge center at 510 East Park Ave. Sessions are Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. and again at 3 p.m.  Sunday there are stratified Swiss Teams at 10 a.m. Free lunch is included all three days and all points earned are Silver.

Greenville S.C. is hosting a Regional Tournament from June 8 through 14 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 220 N Main St. There are several opportunities to earn Gold points here. For full information about both of these tournaments go to www.mabcbridge.org and click on Up Coming Tournaments.

Friday, May 8 we had a very tight game. Winning first was Patty King and Fern Albracht; second, Marie Pugh and Loyd Hill; third, Pat Macon and Judy Gealy; fourth, Betsy Bare and Pat Featherston; tied for fifth/sixth were Stella Shadroui and Joe O’Brien with Ron and Shirley Jeffers.

Ron and Shirley Jeffers had the best N/S score bidding and making 3SN while the best E/W score of 3CE+1 was made by Fern Albracht and Patty King.

At the 4 table Women’s Club game, May 12 winners were: first, Betty Bills and Myrnie McLaughlin; second, Fern Albracht and Carol Bachl; third, Jayne Shive and Sonjia McHone.
