TPA a key tool for trade negotiations

In 1953, Power Curbers Inc. was founded in Salisbury by two businessmen with a design for the world’s first automatic curb machine, and has grown into one of the leading manufacturers of concrete paving machinery.
Our equipment can be found in more than 90 countries, helping create safer, more efficient infrastructure. Despite our success, we continue to face substantial barriers in international markets that make it difficult to compete globally.
Without these barriers, American industry succeeds. Trade Promotion Authority is a key negotiating tool that gives our negotiators maximum leverage to secure the best deal in trade agreements. We must pass TPA now, as the United States negotiates the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) opening new markets in Asia and Europe.
North Carolina’s economic strength and future relies on exports. We need our representatives in Washington to pass TPA to ensure North Carolina enjoys the maximum benefit from future trade agreements.

Smooth sailing for zoning request

We in society are quick to criticize our elected officials and appointed boards for doing things that we may not agree with but we are slow to thank them for working on our behalf. My wife Gerry and I recently went before the Rowan County Zoning Board of Adjustment to get approval to build a garage at our home on a difficult lot. The board was very professional and reviewed very carefully all of the facts prior to granting our request. We wish to thank the board and also all of the great help we received from Shane, Ed, Becky and Jennifer from the Rowan County Zoning Department. I also want to thank the county commissioner who was there, Mr. Craig Pierce, and county attorney Jay Dees. Folks of Rowan County, our system works. Thanks again.
