This may be the last day you need to take an umbrella and a canoe to work. Most of the rest of the week looks sunny and comfortable.

But first we have to get through today, which has a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Those partly sunny skies will raise the temperature to 78. Winds from the south southwest will blow at 9-17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Some of the storms could be severe, with damaging winds and large hail. Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Areas where the water is high could flood again during periods of heavy rainfall.

Tonight’s chance of precipitation is 40 percent, mostly showers, with a few thunderstorms possible. The low will be 51, with southwest winds at 6-14 mph and gusts up to 23 mph.

But Tuesday could be a welcome relief. It should be sunny, with a high near 68. Tuesday night should be clear and around 47.

Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high around 72. West southwest winds will increase to 6-11 mph in the morning. Winds could reach 18 mph. There will be a 20 percent chance of showers overnight, with a low of 52.

Thursday looks partly sunny, with a high of 71 and a low of 46. Friday could be mostly sunny with a high of 68.

But then, showers return, with a 40 percent chance Friday night and a low of 50.

Saturday brings a 50 percent chance of showers, mostly cloudy skies, and a high near 65. It’s the first day of the Salisbury Rowan Farmers’ Market, so maybe if you go early, you’ll miss the rain. Most of the vendors have tents to cover their offerings. It’s down to a 40 percent chance of showers Saturday night, with a low of 47.

And Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 68.

It’s North Carolina. It’s spring. You can experience all four seasons in a single day, plus possible monsoons. All weather subject to change without notice.
