The majority of falls people hear about will be for those age 65 and older. One out of three seniors are at a risk of falling which can result in serious debilitating injuries and in many cases, death. Many times your healthcare provider will not bring this to your attention unless you discuss your “close calls” or fears of falling with them. In many cases their risk of falling can be a reason easily preventable.
Carillion Assisted Living, 1915 Mooresville Road, will present lunch and a speaker on Thursday, April 23, at 11:30 a.m. Allison Starnes, physical therapist at Gentiva Health Care, will give statistics on falls among seniors as well as exercises and various ways to be aware of situations to prevent falls, Keep Vertical, Stay Healthy.
