Veterans who would like a free haircut and shoeshine are being invited to visit the Made Man Barber and Shave at 108 W. Innes St. next Monday, April 20.

The barber shop and Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell are teaming up to offer the free haircuts and shoeshines for veterans from noon to 5 p.m. that day.

Russ Roakes, a funeral director for Powles, said it’s a way to say thanks to veterans for their service.

The barbers at Made Man are Brian Hunt and Tim Batten. The barber shop also is a “Retire Your Flag” donation site for worn U.S. flags. People can drop off at the shop their old American flags, which Powles includes in its cremation services for veterans.

Powles has donated a red, white and blue bench to Made Man Barber Shop in honor of veterans.
