Sheetz reported someone used two counterfeit $20 bills with matching serial numbers at the store between midnight and 6 am on Tuesday.

It’s not the first time in recent weeks that someone has been using fake bills, most of which had the same serial numbers.

In March, someone used fake $100 bills to buy $400 worth of VISA gift cards at Family Dollar. The cashier said she looked at the bills toward the light too look for a security strip, but still believed the money was real. A manager later spotted the fake bills and reported it to police. All of the bills had the same serial number.

The suspect has used fake bills at Sheetz on another occasion, Food Lion, Circle K convenience store on East Innes Street and at Walmart.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
