First Calvary Baptist

The Youth Department of First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S. Long St., will hold an Easter celebration in the church annex today at 5:30 p.m. The celebration will include a performance of the play “A Word on the Resurrection” by Sharon Chatwell. Refreshments will be served. The Rev. Leamon E. Brown is host pastor.

 

Stallings Memorial Baptist Church

Today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, 817 South Main St., will  host an Easter egg hunt and craft day with a hotdog lunch.

Easter Sunday: Sunrise service at 7 a.m.; breakfast at 7:30 a.m.; Sunday school at 8:15 a.m.; worship service at 9:30 a.m. There will be no evening services.

 

Landmark Church

Landmark Church, 1910 Mooresville Highway, today from 2-4 p.m. hosts its annual Easter egg hunt for children up to age 12.

On Sunday at 7 a.m. is the outdoor sunrise service, weather permitting, and at 7:30 a.m. is sunrise breakfast in the fellowship hall.

At 11 a.m. is the Easter cantata “It Is Finished,” performed by the adult choir under the direction of Mary Williams.

Landis Baptist

LANDIS — Landis Baptist Church will present a drama, “That’s Him,” today and Sunday at 7 p.m. at Landis Baptist Church,  110 N. Kimmons St. The drama portrays the life, ministry, crucifixion and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no admission charge.

 

Trading Ford Baptist

Trading Ford Baptist Church off Long Ferry Road will be hosting an “Eggstravaganza” today from 10 a.m-noon with games, food and a resurrection skit.

On Sunday, Trading Ford will present the resurrection drama “Our Road to Calvary,” at 10 a.m.

 

Immanuel Lutheran

Rockwell—The Immanuel Lutheran Youth (ILY) will sponsor an Easter egg hunt today for toddlers through fifth grade.

Children should gather in the Sunday school department by 1:30 p.m. to be divided into  age groups, and the youth will assist as they search for prize eggs and those filled with candy.

After the hunt will be the awarding of prizes followed by refreshments. The Immanuel Youth have made special Easter treats for this event. Those attending this event may spy the Easter Bunny! Rain date: after breakfast on Easter Sunday. Call 704-279-3737.

Immanuel Lutheran’s Easter sunrise service begins at 6:30 a.m. in the fellowship building due to the remodeling of the church sanctuary. The Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor, will deliver the message with special appearance by several biblical characters. The children’s sermon will be “Easter Egg-citement.”

Following the service is a complimentary Easter breakfast prepared by the men’s Sunday school class.

 

Resurrection Life

On Easter morning, Resurrection Life Church, 216 S. Main St., will celebrate the true meaning of the season. “Because He Came” will be the sermon topic. Maranatha Bible 

The Easter Sunday Sonrise service is 8 a.m. at Maranatha Bible Church, 2320 Statesville Blvd., followed by breakfast at 8:45 a.m. and the worship service at 10 a.m. with a cantata by the Maranatha choir.

“The Risen Savior” is a passionate Easter musical experience that remembers Christ’s cross of sacrifice and celebrates His victorious resurrection.

St. Luke Baptist

St. Luke Baptist Church on Hawkinstown Road will celebrate Easter with a joint service at sunrise at Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church on Old Mocksville Ave.

St. Luke’s morning Easter service will begin at 10 a.m. Call 704-636-8947 for information. The Rev. Arthur L. Heggins is host pastor.

 

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury 

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury will celebrate Easter Sunday with services at 8:30 a.m. (sanctuary, traditional style) and 8:50 a.m. (Lewis Hall, contemporary style). Sunday school is at 10 a.m. Also at 10 a.m. is an Easter egg hunt for children age 2 years old through 5th grade in the courtyard.

At 10:15 a.m. the “One Great Hour of Sharing”Feed the Fish Finale will be held in the courtyard. At 10:30 a.m. is the ‘Painted Lady’ butterfly release. The children have watched the miracle of transformation from larvae to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterflies over the last several weeks.

At 10:45 a.m. the prelude music begins. The Resurrection Brass and Bell Tower Ringers will perform along with the Sanctuary Choir. Final service of the day is at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.

 

St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church

GOLD HILL —St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 4401 St. Stephen’s Church Road, celebrates Easter with a sunrise service and Easter breakfast. The sunrise service begins at 7 a.m. in the church cemetery, after which the congregation will proceed to the church for a festival service with readings, hymns, and Holy Communion.

Pastor Darrell Norris will preach and an Easter anthem will be sung by the St. Stephen’s choir.

Breakfast will follow with a meal prepared by the Lutheran Men in Mission. There will be no Sunday School or 11 a.m. worship.

 

Dayspring Community Church

CHINA GROVE — Dayspring Community Church, 490 Lentz Road, will present the Easter cantata “May We Never Lose the Wonder,” on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

 

Providence AME Zion

At Providence AME Zion Church, 2415 Providence Church Road, the Easter sunrise service is at 6 a.m. Sunday with local churches New Zion Baptist, Halls’ Chapel Primitive Baptist, St. Matthew Baptist and Henderson Grove Baptist. Breakfast will be served after the service. The Rev. Zacharias E. Allen Sr. is host pastor.

 

South China Grove Baptist Church 

CHINA GROVE — A Resurrection Celebration will be held at South China Grove Baptist Church, 501 Haney St., on Sunday beginning with a sunrise service at 7:15 a.m. in the parking lot area in back of the church, followed by breakfast in the family life center. Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m., and the worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. The Sanctuary Choir will be bringing a message in song and Dennis and Nan Allen will present a message of grace, hope and love. The church is one block off Thom Street between Hwys. 29 and 29A in China Grove. Host pastor is the Rev. Tony Wagoner, 704-857-3611.

 

Mt. Moriah Lutheran

China Grove — Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church’s Easter celebrations begin with prayers in the cemetary at 6:45 a.m. followed by the sunrise service at 7 a.m. in the sanctuary. The Lutheran Men will sponsor breakfast following the early service. Celebrating the Resurrection with Holy Communionis at 10 a.m. The church is at 750 Mt.Moriah Church Road; call 704-857-5034.

 

Lyerly Evangelical

ROCKWELL — Lyerly Evangelical Church’s choir will present the cantata, “Christ Is Risen! Alleluia!,” on Sunday at the 9 a.m. service. The Easter morning schedule also includes an outdoor meditation at 7:45 and breakfast at 8 a.m. The church is located at 1320 Crescent Road. Dr. W.C. Gaither Jr. is the pastor.

 

First UCC

First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St., will worship on Easter Sunday with an Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. followed by breakfast.

The 11 a.m. service includes Holy Communion. Guest trumpeter for the morning worship will be Gordon J. Snyder, director of instrumental music for the Kannapolis City Schools at A.L. Brown High School where he teaches the Marching Wonders, Jazz Band, Wonders Rock Band and Concert Band.

Milford Hills joint neighborhood service

The traditional churches located in Milford Hills neighborhood are hosting an ecumenical Easter Sunrise worship service at 7 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1908 Statesville Blvd.

The service will feature worship leaders from Milford Hills United Methodist Church, Milford Hills Baptist Church and John Calvin Presbyterian Church followed by a pot-luck breakfast. With questions call Gloria Dei Lutheran at 704-636-8354.

 

Providence UMC

On Easter Sunday the  Providence United Methodist Church sunrise service will be held at Dan Nicholas Park Amphitheater at 7 a.m. This is an outdoor service, so dress accordingly, and bring a blanket, seat cushions, etc. Pastor Aldana Allen will be delivering the message and music will be led by the First Light Praise Team.

Providence will also have a combined First Light and traditional service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Providence is located at 6450 Bringle Ferry Road right before Dan Nicholas Park.

 

Pine Ridge Baptist

China Grove — On Easter Sunday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, 880 Old Linn Road, there will be no Sunday school. Worship starts at 10:30 instead of 10:45 and there will be no evening service. Wednesday Bible study is at 6:30 p.m.

 

Mt. Vernon hosts joint service

WOODLEAF — Tonight at Mt. Vernon Presbyteriean Church on Carson Road, an Easter dramatization will be presented at 6 p.m. The play’s director is Satonya Smyre, alumnus of WRHS and Barber Scotia College. Members of Mt. Vernon and other area churches will participate.

Mt. Vernon Presbyterian, Cedar Grove AME Zion, Third Creek AME Zion and Liberty AME Zion churches will  worship during a joint sunrise service Sunday at 6:30 a.m. Mt. Vernon is the host church. The Rev. David Small, pastor of Liberty AME Zion will preach. Music is by Liberty’s choir. The Rev. Dr. Bertha Pittman (Cedar Grove) and the Rev. Harold Jordan (Third Creek) will participate.

Breakfast will be served in the fellowship hall afterward. Dr. Emery Rann is  Mt. Vernon’s pastor.

 

Kirkwood Presbyterian Church

KANNAPOLIS — Kirkwood Presbyterian Church’s free first Saturday movie tonight is “Monumental” with Kirk Cameron. The church is located at 900 Klondale Ave.

 

Calvary Baptist Church

Calvary Baptist Church will have its sunrise service at 7 a.m. with special music, congregational singing, and a message by pastor Dr. Rick Cockerham, under the church arbor beside Calvary’s old fellowship hall. Afterward, a country style breakfast will be served in the new fellowship hall.

Regular worship will be an hour earlier than usual; Sunday school will be at 8:45 a.m. and the morning service will begin at 10 a.m. The adult choir under the direction of David Hutchins will present the musical, “An Easter Celebration,” accompanied for a special song by the church’s drama troupe.

Southside Baptist

Southside Baptist Church, 500 Morlan Park Road, will hold its sunrise service at 7:15 a.m. Easter morning, followed by a biscuit breakfast with singing at 9 a.m. and morning service at 10 a.m.

Mt. Tabor UMC and Refreshing Springs Christian Ministry

Mount Tabor United Methodist Church and Refreshing Springs Christian Ministry (just north of Ellis Park on Old Mocksville Road) will hold a 7 a.m. Easter sunrise service followed by a fellowship breakfast. The service will be outside with a brief meditation entitled “In a Garden of New Life.”

Yadkin United Church

SPENCER — Joe Barbee, minister at Yadkin United Church, will conduct a Bible study beginning Wednesday, April 8, and continuing the following three Wednesdays. The focus will be “Another Look at Jonah.”

Mt. Zion Lutheran 

RICHFIELD — Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 111 E. Church St., will celebrate Easter Sunday with two special services: The annual Richfield Community Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. in the Richfield Cemetery plus a festival service of worship including Holy Communion at 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary.

First United Methodist Church

First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Church St., celebrates Easter with four worship offerings: 6:30 a.m. is the sunrise service in the Parker Courtyard and two identical services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. with brass, timpani, and choir. St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church

Easter at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church begins with a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. in the sanctuary and concluding in the cemetery. The Men’s Group and Youth will serve breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Sunday school is at 9:30 and the worship service is at 10:30 a.m. with Communion and hymns of praise, all led by Pastor Gary Coble.

 

Liberty UMC

On Easter Sunday Liberty United Methodist and Zion will share the sunrise service in the sanctuary and finish in the cemetary. Breakfast follows in the fellowship hall. Zion will hold Sunday School at 9 a.m. at Zion. Liberty will not have Sunday school.

At 9 a.m. is Easter worship at Liberty. There is no Sunday school or 11 a.m. worship

Liberty United Methodist Church is at the corner of Stokes Ferry and Liberty Roads next to Morgan Elementary School.

 

Dunn’s Mountain Baptist Church

Dunn’s Mountain Baptist Church, 1350 Old Stone House Road, will be having breakfast at 8:30 a.m. with the Grow Groups classes at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30, starting a new series on “The F Word — Forgiveness.” Also that morning at 10:30 a.m. the Kidz 226 Jam City Children’s ministry will be having a flashlight Easter egg hunt for ages 4-11. He’s Alive Church

Ramah Presbyterian

Huntersville —Ramah Presbyterian Church, 14401 Ramah Church Road, celebrates Easter with a sunrise service at 7 a.m. and another worship service at 11 a.m.

 

Lunch and Learn

CHINA GROVE — Prospect Presbyterian Church will host a Lunch and Learn seminar with The Rev. Ric Durham from Hospice of Cabarrus County and parish nurse Virginia Stewart on advanced directives, living wills and more on April 12 at noon after church. A notary will be available and lunch will be provided. Prospect Church is located at 9425 W. NC 152 toward China Grove. Lunch and Learn follows the 11 a.m. service. Guest speakers are Dr. Mark , pastor of First Baptist Church of Charlotte; Bishop E. W. Jackson, founder of S.T.A.N.D. (Staying True to America’s National Destiny), founder of Exodus Faith Ministries of Chesapeake, Va.
