Rowan County Chamber of Commerce

Fewer than three dozen seats are still available for the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce’s breakfast Thursday.

North Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will be the keynote speaker at the Chamber’s Power in Partnership breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at Trinity Oaks. The breakfast will be a special “Salute to Agri-business” in Rowan County. The title sponsor of this event is Yadkin Bank.

Today by 5 p.m. is the last day to make reservations.

Troxler was raised in the Guilford County community of Browns Summit and has spent his entire career in agriculture as founder, owner and operator of Troxler Farms. Over the years, the family owned farm has produced tobacco, wheat, vegetables and soybeans.

Since taking office in 2005, Troxler has focused on developing new markets for N.C. farm products, preserving working farms and protecting the state’s food supply.

Troxler is a past president of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. He also is a former chairman of that organization’s Food Regulation and Nutrition Committee. He served as president of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture from 2010-2011.

He also serves on the boards of the N.C. Foundation for Soil and Water Conservation, the Rural Economic Development Center and the N.C. Biotechnology Center. He is a member of numerous organizations, including the N.C. Tobacco Research Commission and the Southern United States Trade Association.

The last two Power in Partnership breakfast dates for this season are April 16 and May 21. There are no breakfast meetings in the summer months. The 2015-16 season will start in September. If you are interested in obtaining a Power Card, contact the Chamber. The Power Card is the Rowan Chamber’s frequent attender program. Card holders receive a discounted price for the series and do not have to make a reservation each month.

If you are not a Power Card holder, individual reservations are welcome. The cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. The price includes the cost of breakfast and the program. Contact the Chamber at 704-633-4221.
