As a warm-up for the Rowan Reading Rendezvous, why not attend the  29th annual Brady author’s Symposium at Catawba College, featuring Salisbury’s own John Hart.

Hart, who was raised in Salisbury and now lives in virginia, is the author of four New York Times bestsellers, and he is the only author to win a best novel Edgar Award back-to-back. He’s also won a number of other awards, including the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award for best thriller of the year.

His first novel, “The King of Lies,” was set in a place very familiar to Salisburians. His most recent novel was a thriller about a hit man with a tragic past, “Iron House.”

His upcoming book is expected in 2016.

The symposium includes at lecture at 11 a.m., ($20), a luncheon ($20, with limited seating), a free book signing and an exclusive writing question and answer period ($10). The Q&A often reveals insights into the author’s style, inspiration and practice.
