Salisbury woman accused of stealing vehicle, altering serial number

Authorities said a Salisbury woman is accused of using a tool to disengage the lock mechanism of a vehicle that she then stole from a Davie County man.

Rowan authorities issued arrest warrants for Candice Renee Anderson, 33, of the 300 block of Molasses Mill Road. The charges were brought against her by the state License and Theft Bureau District No. 6 Office in Huntersville.

Warrant state that between Nov. 1 and Feb. 11, Anderson used the tool to enter a 1969 Ford Ranger belonging to Milton Crews of Advance. Anderson is also said to have altered the vehicle’s serial number and removed the vehicle identification number.

It is not clear from the warrant whether Anderson knew the victim. She’s charged with felony larceny of motor vehicle, felony altering serial numbers, preparation breaking and entering a motor vehicle by possession and felony possession of stolen motor vehicle.

She also faces Cabarrus County charges of felony larceny, felony conspiring to commit felony larceny, felony conspiring to break and enter a building and felony breaking and entering.

Anderson was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center on Saturday and has since been released under a $15,000 secured bond.
