Area Sports Briefs: 62s in Two-Man Mulligan

Local golf

In the Two-Man Mulligan at Warrior on Saturday, the teams of Keith Dorsett-Ryan Honeycutt, Lee Frick-Blake Wray and Brian Jones-Jon Adams shot 62s to lead the field.

• In the Mid-Pines Classic at Southern Piines, Frank Adams III shot 72-74-71 — 217 and tied for 19th a 4-over. Adams won $1,660.

Will Collins shot 72-74-73 — 219, finished 6-over and won $1,250.

Prep soccer

South Rowan’s soccer team won 6-1 against Northwest Cabarrus in an SPC game played on Saturday.

Leslie Franks and Keirsten Morgan had two goals each. Mary Jester had a goal and two assists.  Raquel Landaverde scored a goal.

College tennis

Livingstone lost 9-0 to Chowan on Saturday in Winston-Salem. The Blue Bears are 0-2.

College lacrosse

Catawba’s women won 22-8 at Brevard on Saturday.

Catawba (3-2, 2-1 SAC) got four goals each from Caroline Beggs, Alyssa Corace and Meredith Jones.

• Catawba’s men lost 14-11 at Brevard on Saturday after leading 6-0 early.

Catawba (2-4, 0-2) was led by Connor Kennedy’s four goals.

College softball

Catawba  (7-5) lost 5-0 and 3-2 on Saturday at GRU Augusta (10-2).

Carley Tysinger took the loss in the opener and fell to 5-2. She fanned six.

SAC tournament

No. 3 seed Newberry  (20-10) beat No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne 58-50 in a women’s semifinal on Saturday and will play Anderson for the championship Sunday.

Haley Lepaio led the Wolves with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Jenni Gust scored 15 for the Bears.

• Carson-Newman’s men advanced to Sunday’s SAC championship game against Lincoln Memorial with an 82-72 win against Newberry. Charles Clark scored 33 for Carson-Newman. Dondray Walker had 28 for the Wolves.

• Top-seeded Lincoln Memorial edged Queens 67-64 in the other men’s semifinal.

Conference Carolinas

Limestone’s women won 64-45 against Mount Olive in the championship game.

• Mount Olive eliminated Pfeiffer’s men 83-74 in a semifinal. First team All-Conference Carolinas pick A.J. Clark scored 20 for the Falcons.  Mike Moore had 27 for Mount Olive.

Mount Olive plays North Greenville Sunday for the championship.
