Dr. Leslie Stewart Hobbs Jr. will be the new district-wide athletic director for the Rowan-Salisbury School System.

The school board approved Hobbs for the part-time, 12-month position during a called meeting earlier today.

Hobbs will earn $26,465 and could start as early as next week.

He has an extensive background in education, having served as a coach, athletic director, teacher, principal and superintendent.

Hobbs most recently served as the superintendent of Yadkin County Schools from July 2011 until October 2013.

He’s also been the president, vice president and a member of the board of directors for the N.C. High School Athletic Association.
