CONCORD — The Charlotte Business Journal on Wednesday awarded Integro President Shawn Campion with its Emerging Leader Award.

Campion received the honor during the business journal’s third-annual Advanced Manufacturing Awards. Also nominated in the same category was Phuong Nguyen, the president and owner of Charlotte-based Quality Electronic Manufacturing Services.

A panel of outside experts evaluated nominations for the awards, ultimately choosing Campion as the winner. On its website, the business journal describes the awards ceremony as recognizing and celebrating process excellence, leadership and collaboration in Advanced Manufacturing displayed in our region during 2014.

“It is a great honor to be recognized individually by the Charlotte Business Journal, but everything we do at Integro is a team effort and is a direct reflection of our staff’s dedication and perseverance to solve difficult industrial problems and to participate and invest in the local community,” Campion said in a news release.

Integro is headquartered in the Salisbury Business Center, on the corner of South Main Street and East Bank Street in downtown. Integro uses vision technology and provides software to various other companies. One of its functions is providing machines and software that can inspect products for defects as they are produced on factory floors.

Integro was founded in 2001. Its original facility in Rowan County was located on North Lee Street. Its past projects include jobs for the military, the food and beverage industry, automotive companies, aerospace and consumer products.

Campion currently has 36 employees.

Other, previous awards received by Integro include being named a three-time a System Integrator Giant by Control Engineering Magazine and one of the Charlotte Business Journal’s Fast 50 in 2013.
