Gold Hill Fire Chief Chad Earnhardt reported someone stole two chainsaws from the fire station 820 Old U.S. 80, Gold Hill, sometime between Feb. 7 and Feb. 16.

He told Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies the last time the chainsaws — a $500 Stihl Farm Boss and a $1,300 Stihl Magnum Rescue — were used was Feb. 7 during a training exercise. He discovered the equipment was missing Feb. 16 and talked to members to see if they’d been misplaced or borrowed.

There were no signs of forced entry into the station, Earnhardt reported.
