Public school students to spend one more day at home

Parents of Rowan-Salisbury and Kannapolis City students will have to find a way to entertain their children at home one more day.

Both districts canceled school Friday for students, and have issued an optional workday for staff.

According to a ConnectEd message sent out to Rowan-Salisbury parents, the decision to cancel school for another day was  due to lingering icy conditions on secondary roads.

Kannapolis initially called for a two-hour delay, but later decided to cancel classes all together.

Catawba College, Rowan Cabarrus Community College and Livingstone have returned to a regular schedule, as have Salisbury Academy and North Hills Christian School.
