Colleges return to normal schedules, school systems still waiting it out

Local colleges will return to their normal schedules Thursday, but both Rowan-Salisbury and Kannapolis City schools have canceled classes for a third day in a row.

Both districts cited lingering icy conditions on secondary roads as the reason for the cancellation.

Rowan-Salisbury issued a two-hour delay for staff with an optional workday, and Kannapolis staff have been given an optional workday as well.

Kannapolis City Schools announced the system would not take a makeup day for Thursday’s absence because they have built up enough hours and don’t need to. They will, however, have a makeup day on March 27 for classes missed on Tuesday.

Rowan-Salisbury has not yet made a decision about makeup days for Wednesday or Thursday. Students will make up Tuesday’s classes on March 26.

North Hills Christian School and Salisbury Academy will operate on their regular schedules, and Sacred Heart Catholic School will run on a two-hour delay.

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Catawba College and Livingstone College will operate on a normal schedule.
