The Salisbury-Rowan NAACP will have an educational forum for middle- and high-school-age males on Monday to address several different issues, including: black on black violence, gangs and bullying.

The forum is free to the public and will be held at the Miller Recreation Center, which is at 1402 West Bank Street. It will start at noon and end at 2 p.m., said Salisbury-Rowan NAACP President Scott Teamer.

Registration for the forum starts at 11:45 a.m.

The forum will be free to the public. Food will be served during the event. The speaker will be Alex Clark, a community youth activist. Teamer said a question and answer session will also be a part of the forum.

Monday’s event will only be for males in middle and high school. Teamer said the local NAACP would also have a similar event for young females in the near future.

“I feel strongly that we need to deal with black on black violence,” he said. “It’s something that we need to start talking about.”

Teamer said the intention of the forum is to make Black History Month a more educational experience and also start a mentorship program.
