Prevent Child Abuse Rowan and The Terrie Hess House Child Advocacy Center have received $3,000 from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation to help feed child victims of physical and sexual abuse in Rowan County. The Terrie Hess House will ensure that each child who comes through its doors does not leave hungry.

“We are incredibly grateful to Food Lion, our hometown grocery store, for their wonderful gift to help us ensure that children who have been victimized do not also have to suffer from hunger,” said Beth Moore, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse Rowan.

Prevent Child Abuse Rowan, established in 2001, also operates the Terrie Hess House Child Advocacy Center in an effort to ensure that child victims of physical and sexual abuse receive the services they need to promote a healthy life. Additionally, the Terrie Hess House provides forensic interviewing, victim advocacy, medical evaluation and mental health services to the victims at no cost to the family. It is the goal of Prevent Child Abuse Rowan to end child abuse in Rowan County through the Child Advocacy Center program with advocacy and education within the community.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
