A teenager was arrested Wednesday night after shooting a gun in a neighborhood, according to police.

Salisbury Police say a 14-year-old boy shot a handgun at least five times in the area of North Arlington and Park Avenue around 10:30 Wednesday night. Police in the area heard the shots and stopped a boy who was crossing North Green Street, which runs into Park Avenue.

Police found a Smith and Wesson .357 handgun that was in the boy’s jacket pocket.

Several people, who came outside and residents of two homes on the 700 block of Park Avenue, told police that bullets had come through the walls in their homes and that they had heard gunshots.

No injuries were reported.

The boy, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, had a custody order out of Gaston County and was transported to the Gaston County Juvenile Detention Center.

He was charged as a juvenile for shooting into an occupied residence, possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a concealed weapon.
