Looks like it’s going to be a chilly and cloudy day, starting off at 7:45 a.m. at 31 degrees. The high will reach only 42, and the wind will blow from the north at 8-15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Be prepared for tonight’s bitter low of 17 degrees. Make sure pets have protected areas to get out of the cold and plenty of unfrozen water. Check on neighbors and relatives to ensure they are warm and safe.

The sun returns Friday, but it won’t be very warm, with a high of just 45. Friday night’s low will be 25, still very cold.

We get a break Saturday and Sunday, with mostly sunny skies Saturday and a high near 56. Saturday night’s low will be 37.

Then on Sunday, mostly sunny skies will warm us up to 62 degrees. And the low will be only 46.

Guess what comes along Monday — a 40 percent chance of showers, but with a high near 60. Monday night’s chance of rain is 30 percent, with a low of 35.

Tuesday should be mostly sunny and 51, with a low around 30. And Wednesday looks sunny and pleasant, with a high of 54.
