CHINA GROVE — On Feb. 25, N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will begin to permanently close sections of South Harris Street.  The sections being closed are:

• 100 block, south from East Centerview Street to the dead end
• 600 and 700 blocks South Harris Street between Chapel Street and Keller Street
• 900 block South Harris Street between John Street and Haney Street

The contractor will be constructing cul-de-sacs on Chapel, Keller, John and Haney streets. During the closures, residents will have access to their homes until permanent driveways and cul-de-sacs are built.  Work is expected to be completed by June 1.

Starting March 1, Department of Transportation contractors will be temporarily closing the 100 block of East Centerview Street between Main Street and Harris Street.

The closure is being done so crews can install a new water and sewer line. Construction is expected to be completed by April 1.

Motorists travelling in the area can use the signed detour route along Centerview Street to the U.S. 29 connector to N.C.152 to North Main Street.
