Authorities say a Rockwell pair were charged with drug trafficking after an undercover narcotics operation that occurred late last year.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Ryan Anthony Everhart, 28, of the 100 block of Rock Olive Drive, with one count felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled oxymorphone, three counts felony trafficking opium or heroin, two counts felony maintaining a dwelling place for controlled substances and one count felony sell and deliver a controlled substance.

He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Leslie Nicole Helms, 25, also of the 100 block of Rock Olive Drive, was charged with three counts felony trafficking heroin or opium. She was issued a $20,000 secured bond and remains in the Rowan County jail.

Officials said the pair were arrested Thursday, but the undercover operation was held in August and September.

According to a report, on Aug. 23, an undercover officer working for the sheriff’s office bought five oxymorphone tablets from Everhart at a residence at an apartment in the 400 block of West Main Street, Rockwell. On Sept. 12, an officer bought 15 oxycodone tablets from both Everhart and Helms at the same apartment.
