Faith Briefs: Traveling Talleys to be in Landis

LANDIS — Paul and Cindy Talley, a musical husband and wife duo known as the Traveling Talleys, will be at Landis Assembly of God Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Paul Talley grew up performing with his family in 83 countries as well as all 50 states. He began recording with Word Records at the age of 11.

For many years, Paul ran from the Lord and played in rock and roll and country bands, receiving Warner Brothers contract offers. After coming to know the Lord personally, he pastored for 16 years and now he and Cindy travel full time in musical evangelism.

Paul plays the trumpet, accordion, keyboard, ukulele, guitar and sings, leading worship and ministering in the Word.

Cindy accompanies on the bass guitar.

The Talleys will be ministering on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Landis Assembly of God, 302 E. Corriher St.

Union Chapel holding Gospel Fest tonight

LINWOOD — Union Chapel AME Zion Church, 4329 Sowers Road, will host its fourth annual Gospel Fest tonight.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. and feature gospel soloists and groups from North and South Carolina, including the Zionettes of Union Chapel, the Cedar Grove Gospel Singers, Disciples of Joy, Spiritual Voices and more.

Pastor Alice Perry of the Vineyard Worship Center in Salisbury will serve as the mistress of ceremonies. This event serves as an annual fundraiser for the Steward Board of Union Chapel.

Rowan Christian Assembly speaker

Rowan Christian Assembly, 923 N. Salisbury GQ Ave., will have a guest speaker this Sunday. Pastor Brian Whitaker, who has been called to minister to Muslims in the Michigan area, will be speaking on “Living Dead.”  The service is at 10:30 am.

Love Christian Center will change its service times from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. starting Sunday.

Pilgrimaires to hold Gospel Celebration

WOODLEAF — The Pilgrimaires will start 2015 with the annual Gospel Celebration on Sunday at Freedom United Church of God, 1555 Hart Road, where Bishop Willie Joe Gray is pastor. The program will be at 4 p.m.

The featured groups will be the Anointed Vessels of the Carolinas and the Messengers for Christ of Cleveland. Special guest will be gospel recording artist Minister Phyllis Wilson and One Faith of Charlotte.

Mt. Zion UCC to install deacons, hold meal

CHINA GROVE — During the 11 a.m. service Sunday, Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main St., will celebrate Epiphany with candles and the sacrament of Holy Communion.

There will be a service of ordination and installation of deacons Randy Bare, Myra Patterson and Harold Roseman, and elders Carole Brooke and Dale Martin.

Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., the new construction committee will host a meal in the new building.

On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Mt. Zion Men’s Fellowship will meet at 8 a.m. in the new building for breakfast and planning for the upcoming year.
