A Mooresville man has been charged with pointing a gun at his girlfriend’s head.

Barney Richardson, a convicted felon, was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun, and resist, obstruct and delay officers.

Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a press releases that deputies were dispatched to the 1200 block of Mount Ulla Highway after a female caller said she was being held with a gun to her head. When deputies arrived they found the victim, Connie Ivey, standing in the driveway. She said that her boyfriend, Richardson, who she lives with, had pointed a gun to her head. She also told deputies he was a convicted felon and was still in the home.

Richardson came out of the house, but refused to be placed under arrest. He was taken into custody a few minutes later. He was denied bond due to the domestic violence charges and is being held in the Iredell County Jail.
