Great ride on the Polar Express

“The Polar Express!” What a grand time I had! Thank you to the North Carolina Transportation Museum for allowing so many kids and their families to enjoy an imaginary trip to the North Pole.

My father Bill Hatley was one of the original volunteers there at the museum. He spent many wonderful hours working, laughing, and sharing his knowledge of trains and his countless experiences throughout his 42 years on the rails. There is no doubt in my mind that my Dad, along with Jack Vail, Hot Shot Williams, Lloyd Morris, John Drye, Jim Messimer, Pappy Spear, and I am sure other long-ago volunteers that have left this earth, are smiling down, with a twinkle in their eye at the great accomplishments of having a hand in all the excellent opportunities that the North Carolina Transportation now has to offer.

Hats off to all The Polar Express volunteers! JOB WELL DONE! My Christmas is complete.

GOP should stop supporting ‘RINOs’

Supporting our Second Amendment is critical to our Constitution; as are many other constitutional votes.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill) is not a conservative. He, and several other Capitol Hill Republicans, are certified RINOs. Sen. Kirk, on a regular basis, votes with the Democrat Party on “DIVISIVE” issues. It is for these reasons GOP legislators on Capitol Hill have so much discord on critical votes.

Why do the RNC and/or the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) provide millions of Republican Party dollars for RINO candidates’ (re)-elections who more often vote with the Democrat Party on “DIVISIVE” issues?

One of the largest stumbling blocks within the Capitol Hill GOP leadership is for candidates to ascertain GOP money, all that matters is for the candidate(s) to have a ‘R’ in front of their name; no questions ever asked for their stands on the issues and/or values. With multiple GOP legislative votes switching to the Democrat Party, many Americans see the GOP without uniformity on judicious freedom and value votes.

GOP candidates for (re)-election should be required to support 80 percent of the Republican Party platform on all “DIVISIVE” issues, not on the so-called easy issues votes or for the beauty of it.

As Senator Kirk supports multiple gun-control nominees with other scorns outside our GOP platform, GOP donors must get involved to stop providing GOP legislators with GOP money for Democrat Party votes on Capitol Hill.
