Downtown business owner gives to Christmas Happiness in honor of employees

Pam Coffield, owner of Stitchin’ Posts Gifts, has given to the Christmas Happiness Fund in the last few years both to give to a good cause and to use it as an opportunity to thank her dedicated employees.

“I just get a lot of compliments on my staff,” she said. “Working for the public can be challenging, especially at Christmas time.”

Coffield said her employees are very willing to help customers find what they are looking for in the downtown store and refer them elsewhere in downtown or to another business in the county.

Coffield said she wanted to recognize her employees — Sherry Lowry, Amanda Munoz, Sydney Sides, Nicole Addison, Janelle Myers, Misty McDaniel and Raney Roberson — whom she says are special and deserving of some special attention.

“There’s a great need,” she said of Christmas Happiness.

The business also gives to charitable organizations throughout the year, Coffield said, including giving a portion of the store’s sales to Rowan Helping Ministries, Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary and the local women’s shelter.

“We try to pay attention to the needs of our community and this is a way to benefit that need and show appreciation to someone special in your life at the same time,” she said.

The donations to the Christmas Happiness Fund come from donors in the community who earmark their gift in memory or honor of someone. Donations are brought to the Salisbury Post during business hours. The money is then given to the Salvation Army of Rowan County to distribute to eligible families.
