LANDIS —  South Rowan’s girls are good, but they looked bad in a 30-point loss to North Rowan on Wednesday.

The Raiders (3-1, 3-0) bounced back with a solid 62-43 victory against visiting West Rowan on Friday.

“We really wanted redemption,” said Avery Locklear, who scored 28 points for the Raiders. “We had a bad game against North, but  you’ll have bad games. We were excited to get back out there and play better.”

Cassidy Chipman scored 16 for the Raiders, but the best news for coach Jarrod Smith was that he got 18 points from the supporting cast for his two standouts.

“They don’t have to make every shot, but they have to look for their shots and take them,” Smith said. “Sometimes we over-think things. Tonight, they did a good job of attacking and a better job of  rebounding. They all were a lot more aggressive.”

Caroline Hubbard scored five early for the Raiders, and Sylvetta Bost finished with seven.

West Rowan got 10 points each from Shanice Miller and Khaila Hall. Taylor Martin has been scoring a lot but twisted an ankle.

A 3-pointer by Martin gave the Falcons a 25-22 lead late in the first half, but South Rowan closed the half with a 10-0 run that included two 3-pointers by Chipman.

With West Rowan (2-3, 1-1 SPC) still scrapping and down only  11 points with six minutes left,  Locklear drilled  back-to-back 3-pointers to put the game away.

“We played together,” Locklear said. “It was a good game for us.”
