Delta Sigma Theta sorority celebrates International Awareness

The Salisbury Alumna Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. celebrated International Awareness Day on Saturday, Nov. 15. The speaker was Yvonne Tracey, a local missionary and member of soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church. She presented a slide presentation about her trip to  Angola, South Africa. Dr. Linda Stoner is the chairperson of the International Awareness Committee and Monica Green is the Salisbury Alumnae Chapter president.

Three sites accepting donations for NC military families

Operation Toy Soldier is a holiday toy drive program is a nationwide initiative by Veterans Funeral Care to provide toys to the children of deployed and non-deployed soldiers, and also the children of soldiers that have just returned home.

Even though Operation Toy Soldier is a nationwide toy drive, all the toys donated stay local. Sites accepting donations of unwrapped toys are Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell, Carolina Cremation in Salisbury and The Norvell Theater in Salisbury, between Dec. 1 and 21.

Rowan Redbuds Garden Club

The Rowan Redbuds Garden Club met Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Rowan Public Library.

President Anganetta Dover, presided. Mike Trivette,  president of Statesville Garden Council, gave a presentation about Hollies.
