The Humane Society of Rowan County will hold its annual spaghetti meal fundraiser Friday, Nov. 7, at VFW Post 3006, 1200 Brenner Ave. For the second year in a row, volunteers will serve both lunch and dinner with lunch meals from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5-8 p.m.
Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The meal consists of spaghetti with meat or meatless sauce, garlic bread, salad, dessert and tea. Dine-in, carry-out and free delivery of five or more meals to a workplace is available.
Tickets for the Belk Charity Day Sale to be held Nov. 8 will also be available. One hundred percent of the $5 cost of the ticket goes to the HSRC, and ticket holders receive a $5 discount on their first purchase at the Charity Day Sale.
The Humane Society of Rowan County is a non-profit volunteer animal welfare organization entering its 41st year of service to the community. Proceeds from the fundraiser and other events go toward veterinary care and rehabilitation of sick or injured stray and abandoned animals acquired by the organization.
T-shirts, magnets and other promotional items will be available for purchase, and a 50/50 raffle will be held with drawing at 8 p.m.
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the HSRC invited supporters to contribute a spay or neuter of a cat or dog through the organization’s reduced cost spay/neuter service. The goal was 40 spays or neuters, one for each year of the organization’s service. Donated spays and neuters are assigned to pet owners who are in financial crisis and cannot afford to pay the cost of the service or who can afford only a portion of the cost. Contributions to this service continue to be accepted.
Supporters wishing to contribute to the HSRC’s pet food bank may bring food items and cat litter to the event.
To volunteer for the event or to place an order for delivery, call 704-636-5700, option 9 and leave your name and contact information.
