School board to discuss goals and growth Monday

The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will address its growth and goals Monday.
The board will receive an in-depth update on the district’s strategic plan.
Representatives from each department will share the progress that has been made in each area, and the board will vote on whether or not to post an updated version of the progress report on the district’s website.
Dr. Chaunte Garrett, director of accountability and assessment will discuss the district’s Education Value-Added Assessment System growth report, which measures how much each school grows academically each year. Last year, 26 of the district’s 35 schools met or exceeded growth expectations.
The board is expected to vote on a policy requiring each school to have extra emergency epinepherine doeses available, its matching funds projects, construction contracts, a resolution regarding the new Advanced Placement U.S. History curriculum and a resolution regarding the Department of Public Instruction’s performance grades.
The board will meet Monday at its Long Street administrative offices at 5 p.m., 110 S. Long St. in East Spencer.
