Carol Hallman

Pastor, First United Church of Christ

This past Sunday more than $54,000 was distributed to primarily local community organizations by the First United Church of Christ (UCC) Foundation. Over the past sixteen years the Foundation has distributed over $480,000.

This year grants were given to the following groups and agencies: Families First, Family Crisis Council, Rowan Vocational Opportunities, Catawba College/Black Lake Retreat Center, The Davis Foundation-supporting Catawba’s Lilly Center, The Lilly Center for Campus Ministry, Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Orchestra, Hood Theological Seminary, Rowan County Literacy Council, Trinity Living Center, Rowan Once Church One Child Program, Lancaster Theological Seminary, John’s River Valley Camp, Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society, Rowan Helping Ministries, United Church Homes and Services, Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, Community Care Clinic of Rowan, BSA Troop 591, along with various First UCC church related activities and groups.

First United Church of Christ is part of the United Church of Christ denomination. We believe the church’s mission is to change lives — individually, systemically and globally. The United Church of Christ Foundation was founded to be able to respond to the needs here in our community, our church and in the world.

First United Church of Christ is located at 207 W. Horah St.
