The resistance has spoken.

Local political group La Resistance has chosen three candidates to endorse for the Rowan County Board of Commissioners. The group is endorsing unaffiliated candidate Gene Miller, unaffiliated candidate Raymond Coltrain and Republican candidate Jim Greene. La Resistance made the announcements on Tuesday to the Post.

La Resistance IE President and Treasurer Jeremy Gardener said the endorsements were decided by a vote of the organization’s members via an online poll.

“As a group, we collectively decided on candidates that would be working for all of Rowan County and not a facet,” Gardener said.

He said the vote was close, with Democrat Rick Locklear coming in fourth.

Gardener said one more vote for Locklear could have propelled him into third place.

Greene runs an insurance agency in Salisbury. Coltrain has spent his entire career in the agriculture industry and is now an independent agriculture consultant. Miller is retired, but previously worked in banking and public education.

The commissioner candidates are second to receive endorsements from La Resistance. The political group previously endorsed all the incumbents for the Rowan-Salisbury School Board, which includes Jean Kennedy, Kay Wright Norman, LA Overcash and Dr. Richard Miller.
