Salisbury’s soccer team rolled 6-0 against East Davidson on Monday.
The Hornets (13-4, 5-0 CCC) are closing in on their 11th straight CCC championship and their 13th in 14 seasons.
Scoring for the Hornets were Andrew Kalogeromitros, Jamie Henriquez, Matt Washko, Landon Goodman, Josh Lynch and Melvin Bonilla.
Goodman had two assists.
Ahmedin Salcinovic, Lynch and Henriquez had one each.
Salisbury keepers Arturo Ramirez and Arnold Lezama combined for the shutout in goal.
Salisbury got excellent play from Adolfo Ortega, who was forced into the starting lineup and played 80 outstanding minutes.
The back line of Ortega, Reilly Gokey, Christian Uribe and Pedro Cruz held the East Davidson offense to four shots on frame.
Next up for SHS is Wednesday night at Lexington. Game time is 7 p.m. for Varsity and 5:30 for the jayvees.
The JV team lost 2-1. The goal scorer was Santiago Caballero.
Salisbury’s “Pink Out” volleyball match against East Rowan on Monday was a huge success.
The crowd was big. Several breast cancer survivors were recognized. Several haircuts were given and “Dig Pink” T-shirts were sold.
East Rowan swept the non-conference matchup.
Jordan McCall had 26 assists for the Mustangs (13-8). Brittany Small had 10 kills. Ashton Rogers had nine kills, and Avery Wright had 15 digs.
Juliana Anderson led the Hornets (10-9) with 12 kills, three blocks and four digs. Mary Seifert had three aces and five assists.
• Davie’s volleyball teams swept North Rowan in varsity and jayvee action on Monday.
East Rowan won 4-2 against Albemarle on Monday.
Bays Bost scored two goals and had one assist. Sal Sanchez had one goal and two assists. Erik Estrada scored a goal.

South Rowan and Carson will hold their annual Pink Out football game on Friday at South Rowan to recognize and honor survivors, to remember loved ones lost to cancer, and to thank their caregivers.
South Rowan fans are asked to wear pink or red.
Carson are asked to war pink or orange.
South’s Relay for Life team will have a booth that promotes cancer awareness and provides useful information as well.
Luminaries for the Spring 2015 Relay will also be available.
Carson beat Hickory Ridge in SPC tennis on Monday and moves on to SPC tournament action Tuesday in Concord.
• In CCC tournament play on Monday. singles winners in the first round were Veronica Leasure (North Rowan) and Sydney Parker (Lexington).
Winning in second-round action were Kayla Honeycutt (Salisbury), Rachel Trexler (West Davidson), Emily Capito (Salisbury), and Olivia Varner (West Davidson).
Semifinal pairings for Tuesday are Kayla Honeycutt vs. Trexler and Emily Capito vs. Varner.
In doubles play, first- round winners were Brooklyn Hopkins/Kassidy Nance (East Davidson) and Casey Coble/Madison Allen (West Davidson).
Second-round winners were Kathryn Rusher/Grace Steinman (Salisbury), Hannah Shawley/Rachel Salinas (West Davidson), Maria Capito/Julia Honeycutt (Salisbury), and Maggie Lancaster/Emerson Hayes (Lexington).
Semifinal pairings for Tuesday include Rusher/Steinman vs Shawley/Salinas and Capito/Honeycutt vs Lancaster/Hayes.
Play starts Tuesday at (4 p.m. at Bingham Tennis Facility in Lexington. Ladies finishing in the top three in singles and doubles will qualify for the Midwest Regional to be held at Bingham on Friday, Oct. 17.

East Rowan’s Nick Lyerly tied for first place in the freshman/sophomore division of the Tarheel Golf Foundation Bridgestone Junior Open held at Grandover Resort in Greensboro. Lyerly shot rounds of 72-75 for a total of 3-over 147.
• The Corbin Hills Fall Two-Man Tournament is set for the weekend of Oct. 11-12.
The format is Best Ball of the team. Teams will be flighted after the first round.
The entry fee is $80 per player for non-members and $50 for members.
The fee includes golf, food, beverages and prizes.
The start time both days is 9 a.m.
• The Civitan Club of Salisbury will host its 39th Annual Civitan Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Country Club of Salisbury. All proceeds benefit Civitan causes and scholarships. For more information on sponsorship or to sign up to play, call Steve Clark at 704-216-2709.
The FCCA U11 soccer team, the Green Dragons, won a regional match by a score of 6-1.
Scoring goals for the Green Dragons (5-2-1) were Colin Donaldson, Maddox Goodnight, Bennett Clark, Luis Avilez, Ben Childress and Christopher Portillo. Outstanding play was noted from Nick Antosek, Oscar Enciso and Reed Brixey.
The J.F. Hurley is registering for coed basketball leagues for Pre-K through 1st grade.
Players are introduced to the game and learn sportsmanship and skills. Register through Oct. 25. Practice starts Nov. 3. Season starts Nov. 17.
Girls basketball leagues are offered to grades 2-8 and teach skills and fundamentals along with YMCA core values. Register through Oct. 25. Practice starts Nov. 3. Season starts November 17, 2014.
