CHARLOTTE — Stacy Kennedy, M.D., with Rowan Diagnostic Clinic, PA and volunteer with the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC), was chosen as a finalist in the Charlotte Business Journal’s “Excellence in Health Care” awards in the “Education in Health Care/Individual” category. Involved with LFANC since 2010, her passion for educating others about lupus includes creating the concept for a year-long lupus educational series focused on young African American women, and giving educational presentations about lupus to helping form the first-ever statewide Medical Scientific Advisory Council.
The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter is part of the national force working with local health professionals and volunteers to provide information and programs. Rockwell High School Class of 1951 celebrated its 63rd reunion on Sept. 13 at Ryan’s in Salisbury.
Darline Kesler welcomed the group and the Rev. Carl Fisher did the invocation. 17 people including ten class members were present.
A memorial with candles for Annie Mae E. Winders and Eddie B. Johnson, who passed away since the last reunion, was given by Kesler, led in prayer by Derwood Puckett.
Class members, spouses and guests were John H. and Betty Barringer, Derwood and Mary Puckett and Darline Kesler from Salisbury;
Bob and Becky Beaver, Fred and Joann Basinger, Lucille Patterson and Betty Holshouser and granddaughter Sonya Calder from Rockwell;
The Rev. Carl Fisher and Miriam from Charlotte; Roselyn F. Misenheimer, sister of Rev. Fisher, of Rockwell; and Allred and Edna Mahaley from Kernersville.
The next reunion will be held the third Saturday in September of 2015 at Ryan’s. Carl Fisher will be leader and Derwood Puckett, treasurer.
