Hanford-Dole Elementary School recognized the following students as the September Good Citizens for the character trait of respect. Each student received a personalized certificate and had his or her picture on the Good Citizen bulletin board for the month.

Fifth grade – Amber Dalleinne, Jaquez Wallace, Jose Ochoa-Mejia
Joshua Falcon Grizzard of Woodleaf graduated with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Wheaton College.
Lindsey Lipsey, a third grade teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, is the Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month for September. Lipsey was chosen because she has the ability to relate to her students and knows how to motivate them and she keeps parents well informed so they can work together towards common goals for their children.
The Kannapolis City Board of Education honored students and staff from Woodrow Wilson Elementary School at its September meeting.
Miriam Jose Ramos – Ramos, a fourth-grader, is organized, artistic and polite. She excels in reading and math.
Edwin Soriano Garcia – Garcia, a fourth-grader, has a great sense of humor, kindness and compassion. He is a team player, includer and helper.
Sherry and Mark Hodgson – Sherry and Mark have almost single-handedly coordinated fundraising efforts that provided technology for classrooms as well as teacher reimbursements for out-of-pocket classroom expenses. In addition, Sherry has served on the school Parent-Teacher Organization for the past seven years and has been president for the last five years. They have a daughter at A.L. Brown and a son at Woodrow Wilson.
Ray Veazie – Veazie is the current Teacher Assistant of the Year at Woodrow Wilson. He has served with great success as both a one-on-one assistant for exceptional children and as a regular teacher assistant.
Veazie works diligently and truly serves the teachers and students at Woodrow Wilson and does not shy away from responsibilities that make the teachers’ jobs easier and the learning more personalized for students.
Maria Palacio – Palacio, a first-grade teacher, is always in high spirits and tackles any changes or challenges head on. Her rapport with her first grade students is natural and instinctive, and her patience with children of varying needs is second to none. She is able to identify learning gaps and creatively assist students in bridging these gaps.
George Benda of Kannapolis, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in London. The project was titled Improving Visitor Evaluation at the BPMA.
