On Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Rowan County Fair will host the fifth annual Rowan County Exceptional Children’s Lamb Show. During this event, held in conjunction with the Rowan County Fair, special needs children will be partnered with a Rowan County livestock exhibitor and a show lamb.
After being acclimated to the animal and helper, children will learn about their show animal and learn basics of showmanship and sheep husbandry.
Then, exceptional children, assisted by their helper, will exhibit their sheep in a livestock show to earn a blue ribbon.
Rowan County has consistently maintained a high quality livestock show for beef, dairy, goat and sheep animals in the past.
The Exceptional Children’s Lamb Show began in hopes of allowing exceptional children to interact with animals, connect with other individuals, and provide a fun, unique learning environment.
Participants will arrive at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 6:30. All participants will receive free entry to the fair along with two guests. However, all participants must pre-register.
