ROCKWELL — A Rowan County woman received a head injury following a Tuesday afternoon single-vehicle crash on Old Beatty Ford Road.
The woman’s name was not immediately available, but she was taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast, said N.C. Trooper S.L. Herrin.
The woman ran off the road to the right side, overcorrected and crossed the center line. Herrin said the woman either oversteered or overcorrected again, struck an embankment, overturned and the car skidded to a stop on its roof.
The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. in the 12500 block of Old Beatty Ford Road, not far from Rockwell Road.
She was temporarily entrapped, but was aided by a motorist who took off her seat belt and the fire department got her out of the car.
Alcohol is not believed to be a cause of the crash, but officials are still investigating. No other details were available as of late Tuesday.
Fire crews had traffic moved to one lane while troopers investigated the crash and then temporarily blocked cars until the car was righted and loaded onto a tow truck.
Rowan County Rescue Squad, Rowan County EMS, Rockwell Rural and Rockwell City Fire departments responded to scene.
