Marchinko led the way for the Cougars in the SCSDB Eye Opener cross country meet in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He ran the 5k race in 16 minutes, 55 seconds. His time was good enough for second place in the boys championship run.
The Cougars were champions of the 46-team meet, beating Hough by four points.
Marchinko was one of four Carson runners to finish in the top 50. Garrett Ingold placed seventh in the meet with a time of 17:45.
