Aymer is retired president and dean of Hood Theological Seminary.He holds a diploma of theology from the University of London, England; a master of divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, Pa.; and M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Drew University in Madison, N.J., and was awarded an honorary D.D. from Catawba College here in Salisbury.
Sunday school is at 10 a.m. and will feature a Rally Day program in Lewis Hall. The 8th grade confirmation class will receive their Bibles during the program, and refreshments will be served.

The speaker will be the Rev. Frank K. Thomas, pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church in High Point. Thomas, a native of Detroit, Mich., is a retired combat engineer with the U.S. Army and was the senior military science instructor at Wake Forest University.

Lexington — On Sunday evening, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. the Faith and Arts Commission at Grace Episcopal Church will present “LISTEN!,” a spiritual exploration of stillness, nature and the act of listening in the world.
Written by Bonnie Duckworth and Barbara Presnell, the performance includes original music and poetry, local singers, readers, dancers and a string and wind ensemble. The performance will be in the sanctuary of Grace Episcopal Church, 419 S. Main St., and is free and open to the public.
