AC problem at East Rowan High forces early dismissal
Students at East Rowan High School will be released at 10 a.m. today after an air-conditioning compressor failed, a Rowan-Salisbury School System spokeswoman said.
The temperature inside the school was in the 80s and rising earlier this morning, Rita Foil said.
A contractor’s crew was at the school this morning and expected to have the compressor repaired within 45 minutes, Foil said, but it will take a while to cool down the school.
East Rowan’s principal has sent a message to parents letting them know about the early dismissal.
Foil said afternoon athletic activities at the school will go on as planned.
