Rolle makes five tackles

Former Catawba DB Jumal Rolle made five solo tackles in Green Bay’s 31-21 win against the Oakland Raiders in a Friday NFL preseason game to tie for the team lead.
Rolle saw significant action in the second half.
Rolle is on the Packers’ depth chart at right cornerback and could make the team.
Labor Day Four-Ball qualifying concludes Sunday.
Leading qualifying after two days is the team of David Miller-Jon Dyer with a 64.

• In the Joe Cheves Junior Invitational at Morganton’s Mimosa Hills, Nick Lyerly shot 68 to tie for eighth in the first round. Michael Childress and Walker Cress shot 71s.
Isabella Rusher shot 73 in the first round to tie for 11th, while Grace Yatawara shot 75, and Carley Cox shot 83.
Eddy Alvarez hit two homers for the Kannapolis Intimidators in Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the West Virginia Power.
Carson junior Zachary Marchinko won the 9th anual Providence Invitational at McAlpine Greenway on Saturday.
Marchinko ran 15:58 and led Carson to a second-place finish behind North Lincoln in the 31-team field.
East Rowan was fourth, West Rowan was seventh, A.L. Brown was eighth, Gray Stone was 11th, and Davie was 20th.
East Rowan’s Conor Honeycutt placed third in 16:24.
Kellen Corson led A.L. Brown. He was 10th in 17:13.
Carson’s Grant Doby was 13th in 17:18.
Nick Simmons led Davie. He finished 18th in 17:31.
Carson’s Garrett Ingold was 20th in 17:33.
A.L. Brown’s Brandon Hernandez ran 17:44 for 24th.
East Rowan’s Chance Brown was 27th in 17:51.
West Rowan’s Cameron Butler was 29th (17:52) and the Falcons’ Jordan Bostian was 30th in 17:53.
Carson’s Hunter Kimball was 34th in 17:57.
Carson’s Nick Cox was 44th in 18:16, while East Rowan’s Trevor L’Hommedieu was 45th in 18:17.
Girls
In Saturday’s 9th anual Providence Invitational at McAlpine Greenway, A.L. Brown’s girls placed fourth.
Gray Stone (5th), East Rowan (12th), Davie (16th), Carson (19th) and West Rowan (21st) competed.
Butler won the meet.
Piedmont’s Jaden Phelix won the girls ace in 20:10.
Gray Stone’s Annie Habeeb placed 10th in 21:09.
A.L. Brown was led by Kelsie Simpson. She was 13th in 21:14.
East Rowan’s Faith Blume was 33rd in 22:14, and East Rowan’s Faith Faller was 36th in 22:23.
Josie Heglar (39th, 22:28) led West Rowan. Brienna Owens was 49th in 22:48.
The top runner for Davie was Jill Staley in 22:47.
