Jordan McCall had 23 assists in East Rowan’s 25-29, 18-25, 22-25, 26-24 and 16-14 victory.
Avery Wright had 10 kills, and Brittany Small had nine.
Susan-Barker Fowler had five blocks. Erin Hatley was outstanding serving and missed only one in five sets.
Ashton Rogers had five aces and led the Mustangs’ defense, along with libero Elane Kepley.
Carson won 25-20 and 25-19 against East Rowan on Thursday. Bree Medlin and Addi Bost played excellent defense for East Rowan. Courtney Wagner had eight kills, while Jordan Dyer had four. Leah Mesimer had five assists.
Salisbury lost to Lake Norman 1-0 on Thursday.
“At times I felt like we were playing as the better team and with momentum, but we couldn’t get that pivotal breakthrough,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “Lake Norman is very well rounded and well coached and had their fair share of opportunities but it seemed as if most of the match was played between the 18s.”
Lake Norman scored on a long throw-in that ping-ponged across the top of the box until it was knocked it home.
“The conditions were tough, especially after an equally grueling night on Wednesday,” Parrish said. “I think we were in a better shape and had more opportunities tonight than we had against Concord.”
Top performers for the Hornets (0-2) were Christian Uribe, Reilly Gokey, Andrew Kalogeromitros and goalkeeper Arnold Lezama.

Catawba Valley Community College starts the season Aug. 25. Returning standouts for the Redhawks include sophomores Aimee Cloninger (Carson) and Tiffany Brooks (South Rowan).
Cloninger was region player of the year and tournament MVP in 2013 and ranked seventh nationally with 95 aces. Brooks had 47 block assists.
