Don’t hide your light

We had a guest speaker at church last week. He said something that really changes the way we as Christians see things.
If, on the job, we are told we cannot bring God into the workplace, we might as well just stay home. If we are a child of God, then He is in us. Wherever we are, God is with us. He says He will never leave or forsake us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, so God dwells in us.
Hebrews 13:5 states “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” and 1 Cor. 3:16 says “you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you.”
It is just another lie of the enemy telling us that we can’t bring God into our schools or into our workplaces. If our kids are children of God, then God is in our schools. The enemy is so sneaky — he thinks that if he makes us believe we can’t take God with us to school or work, then God is not there. But, we must not buy into that lie. We have to let our light shine.
The enemy wants us to stand up and protest for the right to bring God into our schools and our workplaces. He wants to keep us focused and believing that we are having to fight to bring God into places where He already exists. If we are a child of God, He goes with us through the doors everytime we go there.
As Christians, we must let the light of God in us shine wherever we are. We do this by how we behave, how we treat others and how we speak. Don’t hide God’s light in you — let it shine.
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.”
— Luke 11:33
The guest speaker also made the comment about how, when we were little, our parents always told us not to be embarrassing in public. How much more then should we not embarrass our Heavenly Father while we are at work or school? How many times have we embarrassed God with our words or with our actions?
Each day, when you walk through the doors of your office or classroom, God is walking through with you. If you are facing a challenge, and you need some encouragement, remember who is with you. Smile, and let Him shine through you.
“But, The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
— John 14 v 26-27
I am so thankful for the speaker we had Sunday at Agape Faith Church in Clemmons and this message. Now, I stop and take note that God is with me no matter where I am. If I am there, so is He.
How do we let our light shine? By recognizing He is in us and remembering to stay in His word.
