Carolina Artists
During the annual Multi-Media EXPO that runs through midafternoon Friday, the Civic Center is home to 222 pieces of artwork from 47 artists. The show is made up of paintings, drawings and photographs. Watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, ink and pencil present the viewer with a wide variety of media as well as an even wider variety of subjects. The photography offers an unexpected display of techniques, both modern and traditional.
Many of the photographs and paintings are for sale. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase an original piece of art. The artists range from amateur to professional. Amazing work comes from artists at every level of expertise. The show is held annually and is open to any artist or photographer over the age of 18.
Judges select first, second, third and honorable mention in each category. Ribbons and monetary prizes are awarded. Judges this year are Sacred Heart art teacher Leslie Hudson-Tolles, Bruce Wilson of Fine Frame and Jason Williams of Snapshots Photographic.
The exhibit is open to the public at no charge.

The Carolina Artists was formed in 1990 by working artists to provide opportunities for local artists to be recognized within the central Carolina community. The group meets monthly. Find more information and pictures at www.thecarolinaartists.org. With the help of the Civic Center (Parks and Recreation) staff, the Carolina Artists sponsor two large shows each year, the Student Art Show in March for students in grades K through 12 and the Carolina Artists EXPO for adults over the age of 18.
