Four friends had an idea for a neighborhood summertime project.
Best friends and neighbors since babies, Taylor and Lindsey Conrad and Baleigh and Riley Hill wanted to do something to help people.
They wondered how girls between the ages of 9 and 13 could make a difference. They came up with the idea of a neighborhood carnival. The proceeds from this carnival will go towards Relay for Life and Rowan Helping Ministries (collecting canned goods for admission). They held the carnival on Aug. 9 in the Corbin Hills neighborhood where they live.
They passed out handmade fliers to the neighbors and some of their friends, then decided on the events for the carnival. The four girls spent weeks preparing for their big event by making signs, handmade tickets, games and baked goods.
The events included a dunking booth, ring toss, ball toss, face painting, nail painting, hair braiding, bake walk, selfie booth, food and shows that took place every hour.
Their efforts paid off in fun for everyone and by raising $143.44. They also collected 15 cans of food.
