The Boyden High School Class of 1969 will hold its 45 year reunion on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15 and 16. Classmates will meet on Friday at the MG Lounge beside Mambo Grill, at 1024 S. Fulton St. from 7-11 p.m.
On Saturday, the event will be held at the Country Club of Salisbury from 7 to 11 p.m., at $15/person. There will be a deejay, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
CHICAGO — Jana Nance, China Grove resident and member of the Pilot Club of Kannapolis, was one of hundreds of Pilot members hailing from the US, Japan, Canada, The Bahamas and South Africa who convened in Chicago July 2 through 6 for the 2014 Pilot International Annual Convention and Leadership Conference.
Sherry Johnson of Quitman, Texas was installed as 2014-2015 Pilot International president. This year’s speakers were personal life coach Jacqueline Cornaby and Patrick Nettesheim, founder of Guitars for Vets.
Now in its 93rd year, Pilot is an international volunteer service organization with more than 7500 members, as well as the parent organization of Anchor Clubs with over 8000 youth members.
Pilots provide financial and hands-on support for national and local initiatives in keeping with the organization’s ABCs of Anchor clubs, brain safety and fitness and caring for families in times of need.
In addition to its community-based activities, Pilot International created and maintains the BrainMinders family of Brain Safety initiatives and the Pick Me Ups community initiative for family caregivers.

The Plein Air artists will host an informative lecture at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall by Phyllis Steimel on Friday, Oct. 10, as part of the OctoberTour weekend.
