Rowan County Little League’s 10U softball all-stars rolled 12-0 against host Tennessee in their opener in the Southeast Regional tournament in Clarksville, Tenn.
Rowan also won 18-3 against Virginia late Saturday night.
Rowan faces a tough West Virginia team today.
In the win against Virginia, Taylor Walton was the winning pitcher.
Allison Ennis and Kary Hales had three hits each. Walton, Ellie Wilhelm, Morgan Humble and megyn Spicer had two hits each.
In the win against Tennessee, Walton pitched, went 3-for-3, scored two and drove in two. Hales had two hits, three runs and two RBIs. Wilhelm had a two-run double.
East Rowan’s 9U all-stars were eliminated from the Cal Ripken Baseball Southeast Regional Friday in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. after losing to Manatee, Fla. 9-0.
East finished with a 2-2 record, finished in the top four in the Southeast and only lost three times during the entire all-star season.
• East’s 10U was eliminated from the Southeast Regional in Matthews after losing a heartbreaker to Westside, Ala., 13-12 Friday.
East won its final game over Mt. Pleasant, S.C., 10-3 Friday night to finish with a 3-2 record. East’s 10U team only lost three times during the all-star season and finished in the top five in the Southeast.
This was East’s most successful all-star season in the league’s history with two WNC Cal Ripken state championships, three area championships, one area runner-up, and one area third place.

Daniel Hemric (South Rowan) won his first race of the season on Friday in the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco.
After leading the most laps at Gresham in the most recent race only to come up short of Victory Lane, Hemric took the lead two laps short of the lap-75 break and never looked back to pick up the victory in the Papa John’s 125 at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway.
“I was trying to run a consistent pace tonight,” Hemric said. “I think a lot of people doubted us in the series this year because we couldn’t finish a race off. We had led at the break a few times and the car got tight, but we got it done tonight.”
Lakewood scored the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and beat Kannapolis 4-3 on Saturday at FirstEnergy Park.
Kannapolis (47-55, 18-17 second half) dropped its third straight game.
Kannapolis trailed 3-1 going into the ninth before stringing together three one-out hits.
In the state tournament in Lexington on Saturday, Wayne County beat Hope Mills 8-7, eliminating Hope Mills from the double-elimination event. Wilmington stayed alive by routing Garner 16-4. Garner was eliminated. High Point won 12-5 against a Shelby team that had onl lost once. The Gaston Braves topped host Davidson County 7-4.
The feature game tonight is High Point against the Gaston Braves at 7:30. Both are 2-0 in the tourney.

North Rowan High football camp will be held on July 28-30 from 9 until noon daily.
The camp is for rising 3rd-8th graders.
The cost is $40.
Register the morning of the 28th and make checks payable to North Rowan Football.
Salisbury soccer camp runs from July 28-Aug. 1 from 9 until noon daily.
The camp costs $65 and includes a T-shirt.
All proceeds go directly to suppor SHS soccer and Salisbury athletics.
This camp unofficially begins Salisbury’s defense of its state title.
The Hornets open the season on Aug. 20 against Concord.
China Grove Youth Baseball and Softball fall registration is under way at Dale’s Sporting Goods in China Grove.
The cost is $40 until Aug. 30.
Baseball: 5/6 Coach Pitch; 7/8 Pitching Machine; 9/10 Baseball, and 11/12 Baseball.
Softball: 5/6/7/8 group and 9/10/11/12 group.
